About

I’m what most would call an avid hobbyist photographer. I probably should add “long time” to that description. I began taking photos “seriously” in 1975 when I purchased my first camera with manual settings; a Minolta SRT 201 35mm film camera. In addition to the photography part of the hobby, I also became interested in developing my own 35mm rolls and, for several years, made my own 8 x 10 prints. I also had a chance to play with large format (4 x 5 and 8 x 10) sheet film and bet I could still recall the code notches that identified the sheet film type when working in a darkroom.

Like almost everyone else in my photography generation, I eventually migrated into the digital realm, when, in 2006 I purchased a Nikon D50. Truth be known, I loved that camera and all the images in my gallery from China were made with that Nikon. Because I had become heavily invested in Nikon glass, I remained a loyal Nikon shooter right through that last (and greatest, in my opinion) DSLR camera ever made, the Nikon D850. The years were taking a toll on my back and stamina, however, and it was time to move on to a lighter weight kit. After a great deal of research, I finally settled on the Fujifilm mirrorless X-mount system. I loved the quality of their images, their lenses, and that famous Fuji camera retro-look. which an old-timer like myself could really appreciate.

All of the images in my galleries represent shots taken for the pure joy of getting out and trying to capture a beautiful moment in time. This is a hobby that I’ve been passionate about for more than 50 years. I hope you enjoy looking at the images as much as I’ve enjoyed taking them.
